Itinerary

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is where the best Maize in the world is produced. This tour takes us to all of the most important sites in the valley in one day:

• The first stop of the tour is at the beautiful pueblo of Pisaq, a colorful mestizo-colonial town, where every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday they have a famous Artisan market that opens up in the streets and in the main Plaza de Armas. At the market you can find lots of typical items such as ceramic crafts and traditional textiles that you can purchase. Also, because this is where all of the local indigenous peoples from the local towns go, you can also just watch their bartering, which is also interesting. Another good thing about going on Sunday is that you can catch some of the Sunday mass at the church- it is done in Quechua. If you go on a day that does not have a market, then you will instead go up to the precariously situation Pisaq ruins, on the mountainside just behind the pueblo.
• Making our way from Pisaq, we will pass through the typical pueblos of Ccoya, Lamay, Calca and Urubamba on the way to our Buffet lunch in a beautiful tourist restaurant by the river. Urubamba is known to be the main pueblo in the Sacred Valley and is also known for its wonderful climate.

• In the afternoon, we will make our way to the town of Ollantaytambo, a place with an extremely rich history and an interesting story to be told. Your guide will let you know all about this historical place as you make your way around the immense ruins. This place was a gigantic administrative, social, religious, agricultural and military complex during the time of the Tahuantinsuyo. It was later used as a stronghold by the last rebellion of the Incas.
• On the way back to Cusco, we will stop at one last place, the township of Chincheros, which is a place that is known for its intricate textiles. It is a beautiful agricultural center surrounded by a beautiful Andean landscape. We will see the cathedral as well as their textile center.
• You will be returned to your hotel around 6pm.
• Note: In order to do this excursion, you must have a Tourist Ticket to get into the many ruins.
